Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will seek election to the state Assembly from the South Tura seat. By-election to the seat will be held on August 23. However, he is yet to hit campaign trail.
The by-election was necessitated as Sangma’s sister Agatha had vacated the seat so that he could get elected to the Assembly. Agatha is expected to contest next year’s Lok Sabha election from the Tura seat.
Meanwhile, the National People’s Party has urged all coalition partners of the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance to lend their support to Sangma.
