The Meghalaya Government is planning to set up a farmers commission in the state in order to deal with the issues of the farmers.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the farmers in the state have many issues such as problems related to infrastructure, market linkages as well as logistics. He stated this at the first farmers’ parliament.
He added that the plans are being made by the government and soon the commission will be formed. It will be a great tool for tackling all the issues of the farmers.
The Meghalaya government has also initiated various programmes to enable direct access to market and value addition to agriculture and horticulture products.
He further added that a food exhibition as well as a business meet will soon be held in state to provide the farmers a new platform for expanding their business.
