Guwahati, December 25:

The rescue operation carried out to recover the 15 miners trapped illegal coal mine since December 13 in East Jaintia Hills district has been suspended till the water level recedes.

The coal mine tunnel is 370-foot-deep located in Ksan area of Lumthari village.

Reportedly operations would resume after more powerful pumps are brought. 

It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya government sought high power submersible pumps from the Coal India Ltd and announced Rs 1 lakh interim relief to the family members of each of the 15 miners on Saturday.
