In an interesting development rather a twist, Congress MLA Martin M Danggo has resigned as the member of Legislative Assembly on 21st  June. According to sources, Danggo, senior MLA from,Ranikor Constituency submitted his resignation to Deputy Speaker Timothi D Shira in the absence of the speaker Donkupar Roy. There was a pall of doubt surrounding his resignation as he avoided the media and didnot come to the Assembly Secretariat even after 5 pm.. However the resignation of the Minister was confirmed by Home Minister James K Sangma. Such a development has deliberately reduced the strength  of the Congress Party to 20,of the 60 member Meghalaya Assembly, dismantling its status as the Single largest Party in the state. Thus it will be interesting to see what repercussions such a step may lead to.
