Guwahati, 14 January 2019:

Leaders of National People’s Party (NPP) and Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) took a dig at each other and engaged in fierce war of words on January 12.

The whole scenario started when one named Richard Marak of MPYC made and controversial remark on Meghalaya CM and NPP leader Conrad Sangma. Marak said that the Meghalaya CM is ‘spineless’.

Following this, Noorun M Wariji, General Secretary of NPP’s legal cell, countering Marak’s remarks said that Congress party is the one who is spineless and the whole party will crumble like a a pack of cards if the Gandhi family is removed from the party.

She also dared anyone from the party to even dream of becoming the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President.

Adding more fuel to the fire, President of National People Youth Front (NPYF) Thrangki Pohshna responded by saying that it was Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma was the first from the region to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 while the previous government kept mum on the issue.
