NIA team visits Jowai

A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team recently visited Jowai, headquarters of Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district, in connection with ongoing investigation into the alleged extortion racket of the NSCN (K), sources said.

Special cell of Meghalaya Police busted a major extortion racked of the banned militant outfit in the district when it arrested Gaising Maringmei alias Ronal, a senior member of the banned proscribed outfit, and two other militants in May this year.

However, no details of the NIA investigation have emerged so far.
