The prime accused Nidamon Chullet, involved in the assault of social activist Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma, has surrendered before the police in East Jaintia Hills district.
Kharshiing was assaulted by unidentified miscreant in East Jaintia Hills, about 120 kilometres from Shillong. It was suspected that she was attacked by coal mafias of the region, a day after she lodged a complaint against coal-laden trucks parked at Mawiong rim in Shillong.
Chullet is a leader of the ruling National Peoples Party in East Jaintia Hills district. Along with Chullet, another accused Cheerful K Ryngkhlem also surrendered.
