Guwahati, February 1, 2019:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has been trying out his to reach to all the opposition members to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Rajya Sabha for the greater interest of the indigenous people of Assam.

Conrad Sangma along with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) chief Atul Bora met several other opposition members on Friday.

Addressing the media, Sangma said, “As like-minded people, I’m very thankful to our leader of Shiv Sena, Sanjay Rawat. He has been one of the pioneers to come out openly and support our cause of opposing this bill. Therefore we’ll be meeting other political parties. And we hope we’ll be getting a positive response. We’ll also be meeting the Prime Minister also. We’ll continue to meet other political parties to take this issue”.

“When asked on the adamant status of the BJP on the Bill, Sangma added, “Let’s see how it goes as Sanjay is in a better position to comment. So, I think what he has said, I too wish that it is the best situation for everybody. But we’ll see in all probability if it comes or doesn’t, we’ll continue to reach out to the political parties,” he added.
