With less than 24 hours remaining, the stage is now all set for the by-polls in two Assembly constituencies in Meghalaya – South Tura and Ranikor – on Thursday.
Security has been beefed up across both the constituencies, even as poll parties to interior areas have already started moving to their respective polling stations.
Earlier, campaigning for the by-election to the two Assembly constituencies ended peacefully at 5 pm on Tuesday. The by-election to both the constituencies is scheduled on Thursday.
Administrations in both Ranikor and West Garo Hills districts have declared a holiday in the respective constituencies on Thursday to enable the people to exercise their franchise.
