Political scenario of the North East has been changed ahead of the general election 2019. The United Democratic Party (UDP) of Meghalaya has snapped its ties with BJP after National party president Amit Shah announced to bring Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 if the party comes back into power. The UDP was a part of the NEDA as well.
The working president of UDP, Paul Lyngdoh has confirmed the development on Wednesday.
Lyngdoh said the party has already decided not to depend on Delhi centric National parties as it is short-lived.
On Tuesday, the party vice president, Allantry Franklin Dkhar also confirmed of the development and said, “The regrouping of all North Eastern Political Parties in Guwahati has rendered NEDA deprived of the regional political parties.”
