Bystander attempts to attack Meghalaya honeymoon murder accused at Indore airport amid tight security

Tension flared outside the Indore airport as a man attempted to physically attack one of the accused in the sensational Meghalaya honeymoon murder case while the Shillong Police escorted the suspects into the terminal.

In a video circulating on social media, a man is seen lunging at one of the accused as police personnel swiftly shielded the suspects and ushered them inside the airport. The footage has triggered widespread reactions, highlighting public outrage over the gruesome crime.

The five accused, including the victim’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, were earlier produced before a local court in Madhya Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday. The court granted transit custody for all five individuals to the Meghalaya Police.

The case involves the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, allegedly killed by his wife Sonam while they were on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The newlywed couple had been reported missing for several days before Raja’s body was recovered from a gorge on June 2, ten days after their disappearance. Sonam was found at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur on June 9, raising suspicions and eventually leading to the unravelling of the case.

Along with Sonam, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand Kurmi have been arrested in connection with the murder. Authorities confirmed that all five will be transported to Shillong for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Speaking to ANI, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong confirmed that some of the accused have confessed to their involvement. “All the accused have been arrested from different locations – some in Madhya Pradesh, others in Uttar Pradesh. We have secured transit remand. Most likely, they will all be brought to Shillong either tonight or by tomorrow,” he said.
