"Shameful to blame Meghalaya": Minister Hek rubbishes Sonam's family's accusations

Following the arrest of Sonam Raghuvanshi and hired contract killers from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for the alleged murder of her husband Raja, whose body was found in a gorge at Meghalaya's Wei Sawdong, senior BJP legislator and Meghalaya Cabinet Minister AL Hek has spoken out against accusations directed at the state police and government.

“Their whole family is blaming the police of Meghalaya. They’re blaming the government of Meghalaya, and particularly, it’s very shameful to blame the people of Meghalaya,” AL Hek said.

Praising the efforts of the Meghalaya police, he added, “They have done an excellent job. Within seven days, they have arrested the culprits. I really bravo the Meghalaya police. They have done their best to nab the culprit.”

The minister also suggested taking legal action against those maligning the state and its people, stating, “We should file defamation cases against those who are spreading false allegations and maligning the reputation of Meghalaya and its citizens.”

The case has attracted significant attention as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Raja’s death.
