Kiran Raghuvanshi, sister-in-law of the late businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, has demanded the harshest punishment for Sonam Raghuvanshi, who has been accused in connection with his murder.
Speaking to the media, Kiran revealed that Sonam used to operate two mobile phones, one claimed to be for official purposes and the other for personal use. “Although she wasn’t often seen talking on the phone, she was frequently messaging. She never kept her phone away from herself,” Kiran stated, adding suspicion to Sonam’s digital activities.
While reflecting on the family’s immense loss, Kiran made an emotional plea: “We’ve lost someone dear to us. Nothing can bring him back or satisfy our pain. I demand that she be hanged at the earliest.” She further commented on Sonam’s brother Govind’s apology to the family, saying, “He told us that if his sister is guilty, she should be hanged. But for me, we don’t need anyone’s apology—justice must prevail.”
Sonam Raghuvanshi is currently under investigation following the confession of the four accused, who reportedly named her presence at the scene during the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, adding a serious turn to the high-profile case.
Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, has been brought to Shillong Sadar Police Station and remains in a three-day transit remand with Meghalaya Police.
She was taken to Ganesh Das Hospital on June 11 morning for a routine medical examination.
Meanwhile, four other accused — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand — were brought to Guwahati airport by Shillong Police after a seven-day transit remand was secured for further investigation.
The four are expected to be produced before a court in Shillong, where police will seek extended remand.
According to police sources, Sonam is being questioned in detail as investigators attempt to trace her movements, including whether she travelled from Indore to Ghazipur before being found near a roadside eatery on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway.
Police have also seized the clothes reportedly worn by Vishal Singh Chauhan on the day of the alleged murder. The garments will be sent for forensic examination.
