In a heartfelt statement that blends grief with gratitude, Sachin Raghuvanshi — the brother of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was brutally murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya — has publicly apologised to the people and government of Meghalaya for the backlash the state faced in the aftermath of the crime.
“I want to apologise to the Meghalaya government that because of one Sonam Raghuvanshi, the image of Meghalaya has been tarnished,” said Sachin, acknowledging the widespread criticism unfairly directed at the state following the crime.
He went on to praise the swift and efficient handling of the case by the authorities. “The Meghalaya Police solved this case in 17 days. I want to thank the Meghalaya government for standing with us. The Meghalaya government cares for its tourists.”

Calling for stringent legal action, he added, “All the accused in the case should be questioned, and strict action should be taken against them. Sonam Raghuvanshi has destroyed seven families. Strictest action should be taken against her. All the members of the family should also be interrogated properly.”
Sachin’s remarks come at a time when Meghalaya continues to counter national scrutiny over safety concerns. His strong words, however, reaffirm confidence in the state’s law enforcement and serve as a reminder that the actions of one do not define the many.
