105 inmates test COVID-19 positive in Mizoram's largest rehabilitation centre

AIZAWL: During an ongoing mass testing at Thutak Nunpuitu Team, the largest charitable institution in Mizoram, as many as 105 inmates were tested positive till 3:40 in the afternoon.

There are around 1300 inmates altogether currently in the center. Testing is still going on. They are planning to undergo testing for all inmates.

TNT, situated in the capital city of Aizawl, has been conducting rehabilitation by maintaining a de-addiction centre. It also brings together street children who were separated from their parents due to drug and alcohol abuse, with the help of social activists.

The total number of COVID cases in Mizoram, on the other hand, soared up to 16,943 with 193 tested positive in the last 24 hours.

The state reported four cases of fatalities during the same period.

Aizawl reported the highest number of positive cases with 140 in total.

The state has thus far tested over 4.52 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 2,779 in the last 24 hours. The single-day positivity rate stood at 6.94 per cent.

A total of 3.70 lakh people have been inoculated so far, State Immunisation Officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
