AIZAWL: In a significant development, security forces have recovered three AK-56 series rifles, three empty magazines, and Rs. 2.3 lakh in Myanmarese currency in the jungles of Zote in Mizoram today.
Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was conducted by the Security Forces and Customs Department, Champhai District, an official stated.

The three AK-56 series Rifles with three empty mags wrapped in a red cloth were seized by the customs department of Champhai district. Further investigations are underway.
In another incident, Assam Rifles and the excise and narcotics department seized 612.8 grams of heroin and 2,69,000 Methamphetamine tablets in the same district on Thursday, the officer said.
The contraband worth Rs 5.90 crore was recovered during a joint operation at Tlangsam village, he said.
Assam Rifles, the country's oldest paramilitary force, has recently launched an anti-drugs campaign in Mizoram.
