Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed the BJP for allegedly trying to destroy institutions such as the CBI, RBI and Election Commission.
Addressing a rally in Aizawl, Gandhi said the BJP knew it for well that it was not going to win another (Parliamentary) election and as such, it was “infiltrating” its people in every institution. He castigated the BJP-RSS for allegedly trying to impose one ideology in the country.
“There are two ideologies. One is of the Congress and the other is of the BJP. The difference between both the ideologies is on what the country’s future should be like. The BJP-RSS wants to impose one ideology by crushing the local aspirations, culture, language, history etc. The Congress believes everyone has the right to express himself. We want to defend the culture, language, history and religion of your state,” Gandhi told people at the rally.
He said the Congress believes the best way India could be made strong is by protecting the different cultures, languages and religions. He was critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale deal and the suicides by farmers.
The Congress president slammed the Mizo National Front (MNF) for “colluding” with the BJP in the polls.
“I am absolutely certain the BJP-RSS is aiming at destroying your history, culture, language and everything. I am sad to see the MNF colluding with the BJP-RSS and allowing them to have a foothold in Mizoram. By working with the BJP, the MNF is damaging your culture and your attempt to build a prosperous Mizoram,” he told the crowd.
Gandhi was effusive of the Lal Thanhawla government. He said Mizoram grew at 14 per cent which is one of the highest in the country.
“Mizoram grew by 45 per cent in the horticulture and agriculture sectors. Altogether 1.68 lakh families have benefitted by NLUP (New Land Use Policy). BJP snatches land from farmers. Congress gives land to them. The PM has a lot to learn from Mizoram. Some agriculture-related solution can be found in Mizoram. We want to make Mizoram the Eastern Gateway to India as Mumbai is the Western Gateway to the country,” Gandhi said.
