The Mizoram Government recently announced a partial lockdown in Aizawl municipal area with effect from the 17th of September amid unlock-4.0 in the state.

This decision has been taken considering the rapid spike in the COVID-19 cases in the city.

The chief secretary has also mentioned in his order that the risk of community spread is extremely high.

An official informed on Thursday that the state will face a shortage of COVID-19 hospitals if the number of cases keeps increasing,

There are also six other COVID care centers that can admit about 300 personnel of paramilitary forces, the official said.

The state had registered its previous highest single-day spike of 69 coronavirus cases on Wednesday.

The fresh infections have taken the state's caseload to 1,333, he said.

'This is the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases in Mizoram since the first infection was reported in the state on March 24,' he said.

The fresh infections have pushed the number of active coronavirus cases in the state to 583, while 750 people have recovered from the disease so far, the official said.
