Aizawl, August 9, 2019:

Corruption watchdog turned political party, People’s Right to Information and Development Implementation Society of Mizoram (PRISM) party has tagged the Mizoram Governor, Jagdish Mukhi, as 'anti-Mizo' for his unwillingness to assent to the 'Mizoram Maintenance of Household Register Bill, 2019'.

"Our good preventive laws are under threat. Our free movement facility across Indo-Myanmar border has been stopped, but there have been attempts to open Indo-Bangladesh border by enacting the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Our innerline regulation is under threat. So, we declare in this International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples that we need revival and to take action", said PRISM.

PRISM stated that it wants to have Population Register by which the indigenous people of the State can identify themselves. "Our Assembly passed The Mizoram Maintenance of Household Register Bill, 2019 for this purpose. But it is still pending in Governor's office. Because of this, we think that our governor is anti Mizo and request him to assent to the Bill", stated the communique.

"We appeal to the government to convene special assembly to pass again the Bill", read the communique.
