Mizoram Govt to Make State as “Paragliding Hub” of Indiaparagliding

Mizoram government has announced that the state will soon be turned into India’s paragliding hub. The announcement has come after Serchhip successfully concluded the three-day International Paragliding Accuracy Championship.

Mizoram Sports and Tourism Minister Robert Romawia Royte said that owing to the efforts of Mizoram Aero-Sports Association (MASA), and State tourism and Sports departments, the state government would make paragliding championship an annual event of Mizoram.

It may be mentioned here that Serchhip had already become a permanent venue of the state for paragliding events. “Efforts will be made to organise Paragliding World Cup in this place and make paragliding championship an annual event. Better infrastructure will be built,” Royte said at the closing ceremony of the International Paragliding Accuracy Championship, 2020.

The Paragliding Accuracy Championship was organized by MASA in collaboration with the State sports and tourism departments.

The State government had allocated Rs 50 lakh while the North Eastern Council (NEC) sanctioned Rs 20 lakh for the event.
