Aizawl, September 6, 2019:

Showing a great example of love and respect for their teachers, the students of Synod Home Mission School in Buknuam in Mizoram gifted their gurujis with homegrown items on the occasion of Teacher's Day.

At a time when markets across the world were selling pre-packaged expensive 'gifts' for the teachers, the students from the remote Mizoram village were busy hauling home-grown vegetables to be given as gifts to their teachers as a token of love.

Soon, these kids' came to the limelight for their incredible gesture. Amid the increasing trends of consumerism and materialism, these kids' effort and hard work soon caught the fancy of the nation and were being widely shared across social media platforms.

However, not all netizens were happy with the students' kid gesture. "This is a beautiful gesture by kids but I think they should be encouraged to stop using single-use plastic. They have brought their gifts in polythene bags", complained Twitter user Gyanendra Pandey.

Meanwhile, in another Northeastern state, Nagaland, another student gifted a batch of fresh pumpkins to the teacher of the occasion.

By giving these unconventional gifts with a 'personal touch' on teachers' day, these students from the remote areas of India's Northeast have found a way to reach their teachers' hearts that is both unique and distinct -- just like Northeast India.
