Mizoram has had as many as eight Governors since UPA-appointed Governor, Vakkom B Purushothaman’s resignation in July 2014. He was replaced by Kamla Beniwal who was sacked by the Central Government in August 2014 itself. All the Governors who were appointed since then left without completing their tenure.
Prior to Pillai’s appointment, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi was holding the charge of Mizoram since March 2019.
