MZP "Misguided" & "Misinformed" on CAA, says MP Lalrosangamzp

Guwahati, January 13, 2020:

Mizoram's lone Lok Sabha MP C Lalrosanga has said that the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), which is the state's apex and most influential student organisation is "misguided and misinformed" on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

While reacting to the recent incident where he was shown black flags by members of MZP at Mizoram's Lengpui airport, he said, "They are a small section of the student community. I don't think it's a very big affair, and I don't think they have that much support either. My impression is that they are politically motivated, misguided, and misinformed."

The MP, further sharing his stand on the CAA, and why he voted in favour of it, stated, "As long as Mizoram is concerned, we are exempted. I had voted in favor of the Bill in the Lok Sabha following my party's directives. We don't see anything adverse in the decision to do so...."

Meanwhile, MZP has promised that it would carry out massive protests against CAA in Aizawl and the district capitals on January 19. "In my opinion the CAA is a very bad act and I think it will bring disintegration in India, especially in the Northeast. This Act is harmful for the Northeast and MZP will never accept this," says MZP president B. Vanlaltana, adding that the protests against the Bill-turned-Act would continue.
