Assam Rifles hosts Advent Christmas Celebration to strengthen community bonds in Aizawl
Assam Rifles organised an Advent Christmas Celebration at Zokhawsang in Aizawl, bringing together local residents, troops, and children from various institutions.
The programme featured enthusiastic participation from students of Sirius Orphanage, Crescent Orphanage, a Bible College, and beneficiaries of the NIEDO educational initiative. The celebration was held as part of the Assam Rifles’ continuous civic outreach efforts aimed at fostering social harmony and reinforcing people–force relations in the region.
The event began with a prayer service followed by the ceremonial lighting of Advent candles, symbolising hope, peace, joy, and love. Cheerful Christmas carols and cultural performances by the children added vibrant festive energy to the gathering.
In a compassionate outreach, the Battalion distributed gifts and essential supplies to children from the orphanages. Interactive sessions, music, and informal engagements between troops and students further strengthened camaraderie and trust.
Addressing the gathering, the Commanding Officer expressed gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support and active participation. He reaffirmed that initiatives like this reflect the true spirit of the Assam Rifles as the “Friends of the Hill People,” while also promoting mutual respect, understanding, and unity across Mizoram.
The celebration concluded with the exchange of Christmas greetings and collective wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued partnership between the Assam Rifles and the people of Mizoram.
