The Mizoram State Boundary Committee reconvened on January 25 for its sixth meeting at the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory Conference Hall. The session, chaired by Mizoram's Home Minister K. Sapdanga, brought together key stakeholders, including EF&CC Minister Lalthansanga, Chief Secretary Dr Renu Sharma, and DGP Anil Shukla, along with representatives from various political parties and organizations.
The gathering, attended by members from MNF, ZPM, MPCC, AAP, BJP, MZP, MSU, CYMA, MUP, MKHC, and JAC on ILRFD, highlighted the collective commitment to promoting a secure border and ensuring the well-being of the residents. Minister Sapdanga expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the previous government in addressing these critical issues.
A crucial outcome of the meeting was the unanimous decision to resume talks with the Assam counterpart. The discussions had been temporarily delayed due to the Mizoram state elections held in November 2023. The stakeholders emphasized the importance of maintaining open channels of communication to address border-related concerns effectively.
Notably, the Mizoram State Boundary Committee had previously convened on several occasions, with the first meeting on July 30, 2021, followed by sessions on September 7, 2021, and November 17, 2021. Subsequent meetings occurred on September 9, 2022, and January 20, 2023. Today's gathering marks the first under the new Mizoram government under Chief Minister Lalduhoma .
