Mizoram : Auto Rikshaw Drivers of Siaha town donates their one day earnings to poor and needy to celebrate Christmas

Christmas is on its way and people tend to help each other to celebrate the festival. Christmas is not a festival but a feeling... feeling towards the people you love.. a feeling towards your near and dear ones.

Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.

People of Siaha district of Mizoram has in fact proved their real self by donating their earnings to the poor and needy people to celebrate Christmas. 
Every year, during the Christmas season, Auto Rickshaw Drivers' Association of Siaha Town, dedicates their  one day for charity works. The Rikshaw driver donate their earnings on this particular day to the poor and destitute families of Siaha town. apart from donating to the Orphanage's Homes and to the Hospital's Poor Fund. 

"Even though the Rickshaw Drivers themselves are not in very good condition economically, they tend to come forward to help the poor and needy and this is a such a noble gesture and a great deeds in fact coming out from them. I am so overwhelmed and happy to be a part of this town and people. I thank them and their initiatives.", said N.Vabeiratlua, DIPRO,Siaha. 

"Even though there are lots of NGOs in Mizoram who are into charity work especially during the Christmas festival but what stood out here is more cherishing and needs more support and encouragement." , he added. 

On this dedicated day, Poster/Banner carrying  words of appeals for the poor and destitute families are pasted at the front and  at the back  of the Rickshaw.

Their noble gestures and philanthropic deeds melt people's hearts and many passengers end up  paying more than actual fares, which in fact spike up their earnings...all for the happiness of the poor and destitute families during this Christmas festivities.

This year's earnings amounted to around Rs 2 lakhs.
