Mizoram celebrates Easter Sunday with zeal

Easter Sunday, the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, was celebrated in Mizoram on Sunday.

The devotion for the day started with various Church denominations holding sunrise services in churches at dawn, while the Salvation Army performed selected famous hymns like “He is Risen” with their brass bands.

The biggest denomination in Mizoram, the Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) held a three-tier service in addition to the Sunrise Service. Congregation listened to sermons from selected Bible verses, and church members decorated the church with beautiful flowers in the in memory of their deceased family members.  The church members also enjoyed the services with tea, cakes and the inevitable ‘Easter Eggs.’

The Catholic church, Salvation Army, Baptist church and the United Penticostal Church also held sermons on selected Bible verses after the Sunrise service, with morning, afternoon, and evening church services, along with tea and Easter eggs.
