In a remarkable show of community spirit, residents of Sakawrtuichhun in Aizawl united on Saturday, September 7 to address the poor road conditions in their locality. The large-scale road repair and construction effort saw more than 600 volunteers, including locals, NGOs, and church groups, come together to rebuild the deteriorating roads.
Beginning at 9 AM and continuing until late afternoon, the residents worked tirelessly to restore the vital routes that connect their neighborhood. The project was entirely funded by donations, with over Rs 2.4 lakh raised from individuals and organizations within the community. Key resources used during the construction included 50 truckloads of stone, 2 road rollers, 3 excavators (JCBs), pickups, and trucks.
