Mizoram Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) visited the Border Security Force (BSF) Sector Headquarters at Durtlang North in Aizawl today.
During the visit, he interacted with BSF officers and jawans, commending their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the India-Bangladesh border.
Addressing the BSF personnel, the Governor lauded their relentless efforts in ensuring national security. He emphasized the necessity of continuous vigilance to maintain border integrity and urged the force to carry out its duties with dedication and discipline. Highlighting the importance of public safety, he called for stricter surveillance to curb illegal cross-border activities.
Governor Singh also appreciated the BSF’s Civic Action Programme, acknowledging its role in fostering goodwill and cooperation between the security forces and local communities. He encouraged the personnel to continue their humanitarian initiatives with the same zeal and commitment.

Upon his arrival, the Governor was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received by Shri Kalyan Kanti Majumdar, DIG, along with other senior BSF officials. The officials briefed him on the operational responsibilities and strategic importance of the BSF in Mizoram.
During his visit, he toured the BSF office and the Composite Hospital at the sector headquarters. A detailed PowerPoint presentation was also given, outlining the activities and challenges faced by the BSF in the region.
The BSF is responsible for guarding a 318 km stretch of the India-Bangladesh border in Mizoram. The Aizawl Sector Headquarters oversees four units, comprising 24 service companies. Currently, there are 58 Border Outposts (BOPs) strategically positioned along the border to ensure enhanced vigilance and security.
The Governor’s visit reaffirmed the crucial role played by the BSF in protecting the nation’s borders and highlighted the significance of continued collaboration between security forces and the administration to ensure peace and stability in the region.
