Mizoram Home Minister K Sapdanga, on August 5 inaugurated the statewide fitness programme '45 Minutes for All Ranks of Mizoram Police', organised by the state police department under the theme 'Train to Excel', at 1st Battalion MAP Playground, Armed Veng, Aizawl.
Sapdanga, who was the chief guest at the event, greeted the participants of "45 Minutes for All Ranks of Mizoram Police" from all districts and stated that the fitness parade for Mizoram Police is a milestone for revamping the state police personnel. He noted that Mizoram Police has been a reputed and trusted force since the UT era and expressed hope that with this new fitness parade and the goal "Train to Excel," the public will restore their trust in the Mizoram Police's credibility.
The home minister highlighted that the Mizoram Police has lost 77 personnel between January 2024 to August 1, 2024 and said, “Many of the personnel lost are below the age of 50, with a history of substance abuse and lifestyle diseases. We must, as police personnel, maintain our fitness with regular exercise and a balanced diet.”
“For all the armed branches, there will be regular battalion parade and physical training on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday where attendance and participation will be checked. I would also like to encourage all personnel to take up regular walking,” the minister added.
Applauding the championship of the Mizoram Police team in the last Mizoram Premier League season, the Home Minister added that a Police Sports will be held in autumn, which will be a platform to promote sports in Police Department.
Furthermore, Sapdanga said that Sports Cell should be established in each unit and Arm Drill and Firing should be promoted. He said that security measures should be taken carefully as Mizoram is located on international and inter-state borders. He encouraged the uniform to be used as a part of the body, a bearer of dignity, and stated that supervising officers should closely monitor the case investigating officers so that the perpetrators can be punished under the law.
