Mizoram's Minister of Labor, Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Lalnghinglova Hmar, in a meeting, said that the state's flagship program, the Hand Holding Scheme, will be implemented through the Mizoram Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB).
The meeting was held with the Union Labour Minister and other Labour Ministers of States and Union Territories at the Ashoka Hotel, in New Delhi between January 29 and 30.
During the meeting attended by Ministers, Secretaries, and officials of Labor Departments from states and Union Territories, the Mizoram Labor Minister stated that a state like Mizoram, with a small population, cannot compete in terms of labor strength with states that have larger populations. He also apprised the meeting that states and UTs should be considered based on their population.
Hmar also apprised the Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya that funds under the Mizoram Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB) should be used according to Mizoram; and that last MBOCWWB had resolved to implement the Hand Holding Scheme for the upliftment of labourers.
