Mizoram's Lengpui Airport to be upgraded to Krishi Udan by year-end: MoS Shobha Karandlaje

The Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; and Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje on Thursday stated that Lengpui airport will be upgraded this year.

Speaking to media during a press conference at Atal Bhavan, Aizawl, the Union Minister stated that the lone airport of the state, which is currently categorized for passenger airport will be upgraded to a “Krishi Udan” category within this year.

Karandlaje also spoke of the Centre’s scheme of skilling the youths and giving them tool kits; and added that they are encouraging them to take up loans to start their entrepreneurship.

The Minister talked about PM Modi government’s focus on building more educational institutions, agricultural development, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and creating infrastructure in Mizoram.

She added that with just around one lakh farmer beneficiaries of PM Kisan in Mizoram, she encouraged the State government to create awareness of various Central government schemes to the people; criticizing that the State in the past had failed to educate the masses of schemes that could benefit them.
