Kohima (Nagaland), Aug 11, 2018
In the ongoing drive against suspected illegal immigrants in Nagaland, 120 more people were found without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the last two days.
Following detection of 44 persons without ILP in five districts on 8th August by Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) activists, Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) claimed to have found another 120 ILP defaulters during a two-day surprise check conducted by its activists at two check gates – Tsutapela at Tzurang valley and Watiyongpang Nagaland at Tuli – on Thursday and Friday.
Speaking to reporters, AKM leaders said the special drive was carried out in response to a call made in this regard by the NSF.
They explained that the student body felt the exercise was necessary as Mokokchung is the gateway for some districts like Longleng, Zunheboto and Tuensang.
The AKM alleged that people from other States were being allowed to enter Nagaland through the check gates without proper verification of documents, leading to influx of illegal immigrants in the State.
