Assam Rifles recovers ammunition, warlike stores in Nagaland

Nagaland, March 4, 2019:

A team of the Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of North Igar headquarters seized a huge amount of ammunition and warlike stores from suspected underground cadres of an unknown militant group in Meluri.

Based on specific input from a reliable source regarding the movement of suspected underground cadres in Meluri, a search operation was conducted during which two bags were found unattended along the foot tracks.

On examining the contents of the bag, 52 live rounds of AK 47 and 102 live rounds of M16 rifle along with other warlike stores such as ICOM radio set, smartphones, charger set, mobile chargers, pencil batteries, and more such items were found.

The seized items were handed over to the Meluri Police Station.
