The Kohima Battalion Assam Rifles successfully rescued four tourists, who were stranded during a trek to Dzukou Valley. The tourists, who had arrived in Kohima from Mumbai commenced trekking on Dzukou Valley trail from Viswema, about 20 Kms east of Kohima and they kept following sign boards and reached Dzukou Valley Top. However they lost the directions thereafter and rains and thunder storm added to their despair. These tourists were able to contact Assam Rifles, which immediately launched a specialist team from Kohima Battalion Assam Rifles along with troops of the 164 Territorial Army Battalion (Home & Hearth). After a thorough search of six hours, the troops were able to establish contact with the stranded tourists. The tourists were given immediate relief and successfully brought to Kohima. The tourists expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for its tremendous efforts in the night long rescue operation and were extremely thankful to the Security Forces.
