Centre Releases Rs 171 Cr for Establishment of Medical College at Kohimacentre

Kohima, November 24, 2019:

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, has informed during the ongoing winter session of Lok Sabha that the Centre share of Rs.171.10 crore for the establishment of a medical college at Kohima, has been released.

Ashwini Kumar Choubey relayed the informed in the Lok Sabha while responding to a question asked by Nagaland MP, Tokheho Yepthomi, on the status of the Nagaland Medical College.

It may be mentioned here that the college was approved under the first phase of CSS to be established at the Naga Hospital (Kohima) at a cost of 189 crore. The funds were to be shared by the Centre and the State government in the ratio of 90:10, the Union Minister stated.

“Complete amount of Central share amounting to Rs.171.10 crore has been released to the State Government of Nagaland for establishment of this medical college. The State has reported progress of 16.50% on Ministry’s dashboard. The State Government has been requested to expedite the completion of this medical college,” he said.

The Nagaland MP, Tokheho Yepthomi, in turn thanked the Minister. "Nagaland thanks Union Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan for his support to make this hospital functional by 2020-21", Yepthomi stated.
