DIMAPUR: Air connectibity between Nagaland and New Delhi became a reality on December 26 with the arrival of the first direct flight to Dimapur Airport from New Delhi.
The Indigo 6E 2433 arriving from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) with 149 passengers on board was welcomed In Dimapur.
The arrival flight had 149 passengers while 139 were on board the departing flight 6E 2434 from Dimapur, said Dimapur Airport Director Mughavi Zhimo.

The ribbon-cutting for the Dimapur-New Delhi flight was performed by the first reporting passenger at Dimapur Airport.
It needs mention here that Nagaland’s sole airport in Dimapur is all set to get non-stop connectivity with the national capital, courtesy of Indigo, starting December 26.
The direct flight will considerably cut down travel time to 3 hours from nearly 8-24 hours, depending upon the airlines and number of stoppage.
According to Indigo’s website, the first flight will leave Dimapur Airport at 2:35 pm and arrive at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi at 5:35 PM, signifying a travel time of exactly three hours.
Likewise, the flight will take off from IGI at 11:30 am and is expected to reach the Dimapur Airport at 2:05 pm denoting just 2 hours and 35 minutes travel time.
Booking information on the Indigo website informed that the direct flight will be operated thrice a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
