ELECTION COMMISSION ORDERS RE-POLLING IN 11 POLLING STATIONS OF NAGALAND
ManipurGuwahati,March 1,2018:
The Election Commission on Thursday has issued directive for re-polling in 11 polling stations, spread over 8 Assembly Constituencies on March 2.
Polling for the 13th Nagaland State Assembly elections was conducted on February 27 with the final voter turnout for the polls was 79.14%. The votes will be counted on March 3.
A letter signed by Election Commission Secretary Arvind Anand to Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland stated that the re-polls were ordered on the “basis of report submitted and after taking all material consideration into account.”
The 11 booths have been declared ‘void’ and the ECI has fixed March 2 as the date for re-polling from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The letter further directed the state election office to inform the political parties and contesting candidates in writing regarding the fresh poll. The 11 polling stations are:
- 15-Village Council Hall, Samiziuram ‘A’ Sector of 7 Peren constituency
- 29-AG Colony Upper-I of 9 Kohima Town
- 1- Community Hall, Middle Khomi Village of 17 Chizami constituency
- 10-GPS, Mesulumi Village, A/Wing of 17 Chizami constituency
- 9-GPS, Metsalemi Village of 19 Phek constituency
- 25-Panchayat Hall, Phek Village B/Wing of 19 Phek constituency
- 1-GPS, Suthotsu Village of 20 Meluri constituency
- 13-GPS Building, Zangkham Village of 41 Tizit constituency
- 9-GMS, Tolongsor of 52 Longkim Chare constituency
- 19-GHS Building, Pungro Town ‘A’ of 60 Pungro-Kiphire constituency
- 25-GPS Building, Khongka of 60 Pungro-Kiphire constituency
Meanwhile, a fresh poll has also be ordered PS No. 1- Ladigarh under 49 Tamlu AC on March 2. Polling could not be held at the said station on February 27.
