All the mosques in Dimapur and Kohima, Nagaland will remain closed till June 30th, 2020. This was decided at a meeting, convened by the Muslim Council Dimapur, with all the nine major Jama masjids and few Panjagana masjids and also in consultation with Kohima Jama Masjid at Hazi Park Jama Masjid here on June 14th, 2020, Muslim Council Dimapur working president A. Rahman said in a release.

He said the meeting decided to continue with the closure in the larger interest of the society and also to lend a helping hand to the government to fight the pandemic.

Another meeting will be convened to discuss opening of the masjids after June 30 depending on the Covid-19 pandemic situation, Rahman said.

The meeting also advised all the masjid committees to disinfect their masjid premises and make necessary changes as per the guidelines for reopening in the near future.

It thanked the Nagaland government for partial modification of its May 4 order and making way for reopening of prayer houses by an order on June 10 with certain riders.

COVID-19 scenario in Nagaland

Nagaland has registered a total of 177 cases; of which 89 are active cases and 88 have been cured and discharged so far. However, the state has not registered any death to date.

Assam has recorded highest COVID-19 cases in the Northeast followed by Tripura and Manipur.

India COVID-19 cases so far

India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of corona positives on June 3rd. As on June 14th, the country currently has 332K confirmed COVID-19 cases, 153106 active cases with 169797 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 9520.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 3 thousand deaths. It has recorded 104568 corona cases with 49346 cured, 3830 deaths, and 51392 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 38958 cases with 14945 cured, 1271 deaths, and 22742 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 42687 positive cases with 23409 cured, 397 deaths 18881 active cases. Gujarat with 23038 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 15883 have been cured, 1448 deaths, and 5707 active cases.
