Guwahati, January 7, 2019:

The JCPI (Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants) has extended its support to NESO led Northeast bandh on the 8th January 2019.

The unwavering attitude of the BJP Central government and the recent announcement of the PM Modi to go ahead with the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, in the parliament have hurt the sentiments of the Northeast people, according to the JCPI.

Thus, they extended their support to the bandh in order to join the protest against the BJP's move to impose the contentious Bill upon the indigenous people of the region.
