Kohima (Nagaland), August 23, 2018:

The Naga Hoho and United Naga Council (UNC) on Thursday expressed “disenchantment” with the inordinate delay in finalising the final Naga accord.

In a joint statement, the Naga Hoho and UNC stated, “After many decades of ceaseless arms struggle for self-determination, the second Indo-Naga ceasefire agreement was signed between the Government of India (GoI) and the NSCN. Further, the historic Indo-Naga Framework Agreement was signed between the GOI and NSCN (I-M) in 2015 to settle the long-drawn Naga political issue based on unique history and its situation.”

They said during a review meeting of both the organisations on Thursday, the matter was reviewed in a “very serious manner” and expressed disappointment for the inordinate delay in finalising the final peace deal.

They added that the review meeting reaffirmed and called upon the Naga people to remain united and support the “hard earned” peaceful process.

The meeting further cautioned Naga elected representatives, political leaders, political parties, unauthorised Naga individuals and groups not to attend or participate in any assembly or meeting that would sabotage the Naga peace process.

The organisations warned that anyone defying the “Naga political principle and its position” would be treated as “anti-national” and their entry banned in Naga territory.
