The Nagaland government has issued notice for an uninterrupted celebration of Republic Day celebration after the Naga Students Federation (NSF) announced to boycott the R-Day as a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
In the order, all the respective Deputy Commissioners are directed to ensure that Republic Day is not interrupted in any way whatsoever, and observed in a benefiting manner.
It may be mentioned that the people of North-East have been against the Citizenship Bill since the announcement of the amendment was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 4 while addressing an election campaign at Silchar in Assam.
The proposed Bill has created a rift among the North Eastern states dividing it into two: one supporting the bill and the other against the Bill.
