KOHIMA: As many as 13 personnel of its narcotic cell have been suspended by Nagaland Police on Friday for allegedly not informing authorities about seized smuggled items.
Reportedly, the 13 personnel seized 10old bars from smugglers but kept authoritie in dark about the whole charade.
An inquiry has been ordered into the alleged misconduct along with instituting a criminal case against the accused.
Reportedly, the incident came into light recently even though the incident took place earlier in September 2021.
According to reports, 13 personnel of nqrcotic cell seized 10 gold bars on September 10.
A criminal case was registered agaisnt the 13 accused at the state crime police station of the police headquarters in Kohima on September, after receiving the information.
Meanwhile some reports were doing round on social media stating that some gold were missing.
Reacting to the reports, Nagaland Police stated that the claims of gold bars missing from 290 of them, weighing approximately 48.14 kg, recovered by another team at the narcotic checkpoint at Khuzama on October 3; were incorrect.
In a statement, the PRO further clarified that the seizures made in both the cases are intact at the police godown.
