Nagaland Bypolls: NDPP announces candidate for 58 Shamator-Chessore

KOHIMA: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has announced S.Keoshu Yimchunger's name as an official candidate for 58 Shamator-Chessore today for the by-election scheduled on October 30 from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The UDA days earlier had decided to give an upper hand to their ally NDPP in the ensuing by-poll to Shamatore-Chessore by-election.

The working committee of NPF held an emergency meeting today at Kohima following a letter from NDPP appealing to the party not to set up a candidate for the by-election. NPF after thorough deliberation unanimously decided to extend its support to the NDPP candidate.

UDA is the ruling coalition of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), the Bharatiya Janata Party and two Independent MLAs and the Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF).

The UDA was formed on August 16 this year and Nagaland became the first Indian state to get oppositionless.
