After a lengthy discussion, the Nagaland cabinet has rejected the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and asserted that “we (the Cabinet) will continue to take measures to further strengthen safeguards for our people.”
The cabinet also clarified that the Neiphiu Rio-led NDPP government, which represents the will and interests of the people, is opposed to the Bill and will leave no stone unturned to protect the rights and privileges of the people of Nagaland.
As per Chief Secretary Tenjem Toy, the Cabinet has taken also into consideration the democratic protests of the people across the state across the Northeast.
