Guwahati, December 15, 2018:

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13 at the Parliament House in New Delhi. The need to settle the decade-old political situation in Nagaland was impressed upon Prime Minister Modi by the Nagaland CM.

Expressing satisfaction at the government’s commitment to resolving the issue through negotiations with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), Rio also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Governor of Nagaland and all the DCs of Nagaland, urging the PM to find an early and inclusive solution.

Rio also expressed grievance at the lack of an airport in Kohima and brought up the issue of Ciethu Airport promised by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, construction of which is yet to be sanctioned.

The Chief Minister further requested the Prime Minister to release the pending balance under the now-defunct Special Plan Assistance (SPA) due to the State as some of those projects have already been completed while the others are on the verge of completion.
