KOHIMA: The Nagaland government has announced an additional reward of Rs 10 lakhs for the COVID-19 health care workers in the event of some accident while treating COVID-19 patients.
The amount will be added to the Rs 50 lakh insurance policy for COVID-19 health workers provided by the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGK).

The central government has renewed the insurance scheme --Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) for health workers battling COVID-19 w.e.f. 24.04.2021 for a period of 180 days which aims to provide cover of Rs 50 lakh to next of kin of healthcare workers who meet with an accident while engaged in the treatment of COVID-19 patients across the country.
Nagaland in the past 24 hours reported 10 deaths due to COVID-19 and 133 new cases of the novel Coronavirus.

With the fresh cases state caseload has climbed up to 16283, while the death toll stands at 140.
The state government also announced a total lockdown of eight days from May 14 to May 21to tackle the COVID-19 infection in the state.
