Guwahati, November 26, 2019:

Justice S Hukato Swu, who hails from Nagaland, was on Tuesday sworn in as an Addlitional Judge of the Gauhati High Court. The swearing in ceremony took place at the Gauhati High Court in Assam's capital city.

Along with Mr Swu, Assam's Soumitra Saikia and Parthivjyoti Saikia, were also sworn in as the judges of the High Court.

In a notification dated 23rd Nov 2019, the President of India appointed Justice Swu, along with, Soumitra Saikia and Parthivjyoti Saikia, to be additional judges of the Gauhati High Court.

It may be mentioned here that S Hukato Swu was among a list of judicial appointments and transfers affected by the Collegium headed by the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, who has since retired.

“The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 15th October, 2019, after taking into consideration the material on record, has approved the proposal for elevation of the following persons as Judges of the Gauhati High Court,” stated an official statement.
