Due to the incessant rainfall in Mokokchung Town for the last few days, minor landslides occurred in many localities in the Town affecting normal life of the citizen. On 13th June around midnight a house at Penli Ward was damaged when the retaining wall of the adjacent building collapsed where a women in her late 30’s was seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital. The victim was identified as Sakumongla of Longkhum Village.
Two more buildings were also damaged on the same night at different localities due to mud slides and falling of trees.
On hearing the news, Mokokchung District Administration visited the locations and met the affected families where emergency relief was provided to all the three affected families and the injured lady.
District Administration has also reported that two more buildings at Sangtemla and Mongsenbai Wards have been damaged due to landslides but there were no casualties the report added.
