Kohima, December 4, 2019:

Amid reports of "massive recruitment" taking place in Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) groups, the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Nagaland, Retired Lieutenant General, Shokin Chauhan has expressed his deep concern.

Stating that political negotiations between Government of India and Nagaland national groups were drawing to a close and solution to the long pending Naga political issue is due soon, the Chairman said the issue of recruitment is a cause for concern.

Interacting with media persons at his office in Kohima, the CFMG Chairman said, while recruitment was not reported to be "forced", many youths were joining the NSCN groups on 'disinformation' and 'misconception' that they would get employment opportunities after solution comes.

Towards this, the CFMG chairman urged parents, particularly in rural areas, not to be taken into the misconception and send their children to be recruited in the groups.

It may be mentioned here that the the troops of the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles in November jointly busted a covert recruitment drive of the Isaak-Muivah faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim, or NSCN (IM) in Mon district, Government reports said.

The youths who were rescued hailed from Laokkun, Tizit town, Jaboka, Nokzang, Hatothi (Naginimora) and Chingphoi villages, and had reportedly been lured with the promise of lucrative job opportunities.
